Austrian catchathon breaks record!

On World Alzheimer’s Day, September 21st, our OIS Center organised the first Ausrian Catchathon to help fight Alzheimer’s disease. The aim was to catch stalled blood vessels in an online game and everyone who was interested could participate. Read Benjamin Missbach’s blogpost, project coordinator in the OIS Center, about the huge success of the initiative here:

Wow! Our Austrian catchathon was a hell of a ride and we are very happy to announce that we broke the World Stall Catchers Record for maximum hourly annotations! Check out this plot:

We call this newly formed peak the ‘Sound of Music’ spike. This made all of the participants yodeling out loud when we crossed the finish line, especially our Guest Prof. Pietro Michelucci. If you want to see Pietro wearing a traditional alpine hat and him kicking off the event with the tiniest cow-bell the world has ever seen, re-watch the live event here:

If you don’t have enough time to watch the complete movie, take a quick look at the main results here:

Also we would like to invite anybody who is interested in organizing such an event to get in touch with us at the Open Innovation in Science Research and Competence Center and the team of EyesOnALZ.

Special thanks to our cooperation partners who helped organising the Austrian Catchathon: Alzheimer Austria and Österreich forscht

If you would like to try the game yourself and help in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, please visit stallcatchers.com. You can play the game anytime.
