Diversity and equality

Our approach to diversity and equality

The Ludwig Boltzmann Association’s position on diversity and equality was drawn up in 2026 as part of a cross-departmental working group. It sets out our shared understanding and serves as a strategic guide for the further development of structures, processes and measures.

We view equality as a key issue in organisational development and a cross-cutting theme. The aim is to create a framework that ensures equal opportunities for all staff, thereby sustainably strengthening the LBG’s performance, innovation and future viability.

Our Position

  • The Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft regards diversity and equality as strategic cross-cutting issues and as an essential part of its organisational and research culture.
  • We understand diversity as a quality factor that enables pluralistic perspectives, fosters innovation and contributes to the quality of scientific work.
  • We create an appreciative and discrimination-sensitive working environment and are clearly committed to humanity, individuality and equal opportunity.
  • We consistently embed diversity and equality considerations in our structures, processes, projects and leadership guidelines, as well as in day-to-day collaboration.
  • We promote equality and work–life balance through flexible working arrangements as well as diverse career paths and talents.
  • We see ourselves as a learning organisation that reflects on areas for development and continuously evolves.
  • We rely on concrete measures, transparent communication and the sustainable anchoring of diversity and equality in our organisation, research and working culture.

Diversity & Equality

Diversity, equal opportunities and a respectful working environment are central components of the Ludwig Boltzmann Society’s organisational culture. We promote equal opportunities regardless of gender, as well as a diversity of perspectives and skills within our organisation.

Equality Plan

The Equality Plan provides the strategic framework for promoting gender equality and equal opportunities at the LBG. It describes the current situation, sets out objectives and sets out specific measures in the following areas: recruitment, staff and leadership development, work-life balance, fair pay, organisational culture, internal and external communication, and research. The Equality Plan is regularly reviewed and updated.
