LBG President Smolle-Jüttner: Praise for new „Fonds Zukunft Österreich“

The Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft welcomes the new Fonds Zukunft Österreich as an important boost for Austria as a research location. From 2022 to 2025, 140 million Euros will be available per year as funding for research and innovation in strategically important fields.

“The establishment of the Fonds Zukunft Österreich is an enormously important step in the right direction. The funds and the planning security they provide create room for new, forward-oriented initiatives and impulses, especially for the LBG, and provide a considerable advantage in international competition. Also in view of the current double burden of pandemic and war in Europe, this is a groundbreaking step,” says Univ.-Prof. Dr. Freyja-Maria Smolle-Jüttner, President of the LBG.

The Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft (LBG), in cooperation with with academic and applying partners, developes and tests new forms of cooperation between science and non-scientific actors such as companies, the public sector and civil society in 20 Ludwig Boltzmann Institutes. Socially relevant challenges to which research can contribute are to be identified and addressed at an early stage. In the future, LBG will enable groundbreaking developments in the medical sector by founding new types of institutes and by promoting clinical research groups.
