Elvira Welzig will be new the Managing Director of the LBG
From October of 2022 onwards, Elvira Welzig will lead the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft together with Marisa Radatz. She succeeds Claudia Lingner, who has led the LBG since 2001 and will retire at the end of September.
Welzig emerged from the public application process as the top ranked candidate. Her previous positions included stints at the Christian Doppler Forschungsgesellschaft and the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology. Since 2019, she has worked at aws Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft mbH. In addition to her PhD in Technical Chemistry, she also holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology from the University of London and has experience in research management, research funding, and open innovation and open science.
